“Get into Golf” Campaign

20/01/2015

Hessle Golf Club is the latest Yorkshire club to join the national “get into golf” campaign offering low cost beginners lessons and taster sessions throughout 2015 after signing up to England Golf’s “Get Into Golf” program.

The initiative, set up by the England Golf Partnership, aims to make England the world’s leading golf nation by 2020. The coaching sessions are available for mixed groups, women-only and juniors and are run by fully qualified PGA professionals from Hessle Golf Club. They offer a basic introduction to one of the nation’s favourite past times and provide information about follow-on coaching programs and club membership opportunities.

Paul Haddon, Manager/Secretary at Hessle Golf Club, said: “After learning about this campaign, we were immediately impressed with the idea and we’re delighted to provide our services and support ‘Get Into Golf’ at Hessle Golf Club.

“We’re offering a series of sessions throughout 2015 for those who either want to get back involved in the sport or are playing the game for the first time. Our facilities are an ideal environment to learn the game of golf. Our relaxed and friendly atmosphere, advanced golf teaching services and excellent driving range / short-game areas, makes Hessle Golf Club the perfect setting for any type of golfer.”

Tom Freeland County Development Officer added: “This is a brilliant scheme. Lots of people are going on to take more lessons, either in groups or as individuals, and they’re also considering club memberships. So big thanks to Paul and the team at Hessle Golf Club for signing up to ‘Get Into Golf’ and encouraging more people to learn and play golf.”

Steve Alsop the club’s PGA Professional said: “We are very keen to support the Get into golf campaign and to encourage more people to take up this wonderful game. This is a great opportunity and we can promise our new students a very enjoyable experience.”

The development of Junior Golf is also a major initiative for Hessle Golf Club. Following the successful application to the East Riding Council we have been granted ERCAS accreditation which states Hessle Golf Club is a safe environment for children.

Hessle Golf Club are now actively involved in a Schools partnership programme with current links to Swanland Primary School and Hull Collegiate School offering coaching & taster sessions at the schools and Hessle Golf Club, with a weekly after school club held at the Swanland School.

We have also recently introduced a green course for Junior members who are beginners to the game. This is a shortened course measured at circa 4300 yards with most of the tee markers towards the start of each fairway.

The club has introduced an excellent initiative in 2015 for junior members to current members and new members joining the club.
This allows a child that is over 5 and under 13, whose parent, grandparent or legal guardian is a Full member, Six Day member or a Five Day member to join the club free of charge.

These Junior initiatives can only bode well for future of Hessle Golf Club and the Englnd Golf “Get into Golf” campaign.
